Website Security

According to a recent study, 85% of consumers won’t browse your website if data is being transmitted through a connection that’s unsecured.

This is easy to identify by the omission of a padlock in your browser address bar or the use of http instead of https.

Many ISPs won’t even allow you to visit such websites.

Yet 50% of the websites on the Internet are not secure.

For those of you who aren’t currently using HTTPS, that needs to change immediately. If you don’t think it’s necessary or that important, you’re mistaken.

Lots of website owners think that their site is immune to malicious attacks or hackers because there are bigger and more important companies out there. Why would a hacker waste their time with a small website?

But 43% of cyber attacks target small businesses because they are low hanging fruit. Many of them store customer’s names, addresses and mobile numbers and some credit card details, all of which can be stolen if a hacker gets in.

Other issues are:

  • Google rank sites without SSL much lower on the listings giving priority to secure sites. For get being on any of the first pages of Google or any other search engine without a SSL (unless you pay for advertising).

  • Prospective customers to your site without an SSL (for ISPs who allow such visits) may wonder why you have allowed your web designer to be careless and unprofessional like this. Unsecure websites say “Unsecure site” in the address bar as well as http instead of https. It rubs off on your business because if you have been careless with this, what else have you been careless about ?

So we make sure all the websites we design are secured with SSL certificates.

If you have a website that does not have an SSL certificate, get in touch.

Effective V Ineffective Websites

Whatever you pay or have paid for an ineffective website it was too much.

Not only do you get what you pay for, sometimes you get less.

As most web site purchasers have no idea what to look for in a decent website (apart from SSL) these are the main points:

So, it doesn’t matter how long a web designer has been designing for or what they charge. If they don’t know what they’re doing at the higher levels, all the middle to lower levels will be impaired.

What looks good isn’t always effective.

And what looks nothing special can sometimes be very effective.

That’s why it’s a good idea if you already have a website to get it comprehensively evaluated (free):
